Comparative study of the accuracy of an implant intraoral scanner and that of a conventional intraoral scanner for complete-arch fixed dental prostheses

This in vitro study compares the accuracy of the PIC system with an intraoral scanner on a 6-implant full arch model. In the results the PIC system has an overall error of 10 µm in the full arch model with angled implants.

Made by Alessandro Sallorenzo, DDS, MSc and Miguel Gómez-Polo, DDS, PhD, this study compared the accuracy of the PIC system to an intraoral scanner in an in vitro measurement of 6 implants placed in completely edentulous arches.

The study concluded that there was statistically significant difference between the two, with greater precision and trueness delivered by the PIC system for measuring complete-arch implant-supported prostheses.
