Yesterday, PIC dental organized the course “Immediate Loading with PIC pro" featuring Dr. Ramón Gómez Meda in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Gómez Meda is a dentist specialized in multidisciplinary treatments and a researcher with more than 30 scientific publications. He is an international speaker in Oral Surgery, Periodontics & Esthetic Dentistry and has trained hundreds of dentists from all over the world with his “over-the-shoulder” clinical residencies.

At the course, an international group of students learned workflow and productivity insights directly from one of the world’s leading ortho-perio-prostho specialists, including a live patient demonstration of the digital workflow for an immediate loading treatment.

Dr. Gómez Meda shared direct insight into some of the PIC pro concepts and principles that guide the decision-making of all the techniques involved in a successful immediate loading treatment. Throughout the day, students learned first-hand about productivity for dentists, patient assessment, implant planning, PIC system capture, PIC file alignment as well as other topics.

The course continued with a live patient demonstration of the full digital workflow involved in an immediate loading treatment. After a case presentation, the newest PIC system Gravity form factor was used to perform a live patient capture of implant positions and angulations. Soft tissues were scanned with an intraoral scanner.

PIC dental’s Support Manager, Joaquín Ayllón, demonstrated the alignment of the PIC file with the soft tissues and the design process of the transitional prosthesis. The design was then sent over to an envisiontec® 3D printer and the PMMA transitional prosthesis was printed and ready to be screwed in the patient’s mouth in 35 minutes.

The day concluded with a productive Q&A discussion about the day’s learnings and a complimentary Mediterranean lunch on the Calle Ponzano in Madrid, famous among locals for its bustling restaurant selection.

In a world where digital dentistry is continuously evolving, knowledge-oriented events such as yesterdays continue to be the best opportunity for dental professionals from all around the world to expand their continuous education and learn directly from their peers.
